I am so upset with Sky broadband. We were promised 8 meg and get less that one kilobyte. I have been on the phone countless times followed all what they say and still nothing. I have wrote to Head Office and sent it recorded delivery asking for them to sort it out but I have not had any reply or phone call absolutely nothing. Don't go with them if you are thinking of doing so they only want your money and once in the contract there is no way out.

Steer well clear of Sky, the connection is awful, the router they supply is a heap of junk and keeps losing connection. After about 4 in the afternoon the internet speed slows to a crawl and downloads of less than 5kbp/s are the norm. Downloading a 2GB patch for a game was estimated at 20 something days. Customer support are rude and basically told us the only option is to switch ISP. AVOID.

Sky Broadband Connect is the worst service ever. Supposed to get at least 4 Mb as that is all my line can manage. I'm not even getting half a Mb. Not even enough to download a basic update. Always getting timed out as download slows nearly to a standstill. Phoned Sky and they were as helpful as an ashtray on a motor bike. They said it was something wrong with my computer as they were sending 4Mb down the line, then said it was because it was a busy period and everyone was online so the speed would slow down, which is what you might expect but not slowed to a standstill. Can't wait for year to be up to end contract with them. Useless Service.

Please do yourself a huge favour and avoid Sky Broadband, the download speeds are a joke and their customer service is disgraceful. I am counting down the days to be able to get rid of them and move to a proper ISP.

I'm a happy sky phone, tv and broadband customer.
Have their top broadband package and I actually connect at 20.6m as I'm so close to the exchange. Even with constant down/uploading of media files I've never been warned over their fair usage policy (I would estimate I use over 100G bandwidth/month).
TV packages are great, especially if you're a sports fan. Otherwise, someone else might be better.
But I really can't complain: 20.6 Meg broadband for only £10 a month is simply unbeatable.

Surprised to read so many negative comments about Sky. Have had little or no problems with SkyTalk/Broadband and connection is consistently fast. Only gripe would be that on the few occasions I have contacted customer service, there has been considerable waiting time. To be fair tho, this has been more to do with tv than broadband. All in all, I think the full package is good value and would definitely recommend.

Sky talk/broadband has got to be the worst service provider on the planet!! I have had no landline or broadband for 7 days now and this is the second time in 4 weeks that my line has been down. Their customer service should be renamed customer abuse it is that bad!!. Every time I have phoned them I have been on hold and passed from person to person for over 2 hours!, nobody there seems to be able to deal with a simple problem of mending a phone line!! I have now given up hope of ever getting my phone and broadband back up and running under sky and have now signed up to BT. Please people do not subscribe to sky talk/broadband they really are the total pits!!!!

Had sky for a month and a half but the bb only 2 weeks and it's the worst thing I have ever used, pay for 20mb line and get 512k.
I cant go to virgin as not in our area but if anyone reads this please don't use sky for your isp as they don't have a clue, they should just stick to tv and that's it.

I had the Sky package of TV, 40gig Broadband (because of location) and Sky Talk installed on the 20th April 2009m, 3 weeks after I moved to another house. Tv is what it is, sky talk is good value, but the broadband is a total and utter disaster, while I am writing this at 11.20pm, I am downloading viata service pack 2 (238 MB) at a rate of 44.1 KB/sec so far. The remaining 100 MB approx will take another 35 minutes. I think dialup would be quicker.
Sky have told me because I have exceeded my 40 gig limit the speed has been 'capped' but I was told that I would receive written warnings if the limit was exceeded and the download rate would NEVER be tampered with.
I know for a fact that I have not exceeded the 40 gig limit, haven't even come close!! I'm an old geek don't have the technical jargon, but I do know when I'm being lied to, that is a breach of contract. Would somebody tell that to sky. Enjoyed that. Thanks!

I was due to have Sky installed today, the engineer was due to contact me at 9am to confirm the installation time. It’s now 3:20pm and no engineer has called, I have contacted Sky 6 times and they are total retards. They don’t have a clue what they’re doing. There automated service puts you through to sales no matter what option you choose. Who are incapable of helping you and give you alternative numbers to ring, and guess where they go! Yep you got it back to sales, thank god I never cancelled Virgin Media.

Just upgraded to SKY Unlimited a few days ago (when I found out SKY Mid was losing 75% of the monthly download limit), I admit, I have NO problems at all with the 8MB connection (except I normally only got 6MB). My only problem now is my speed, it seems to have halved since the upgrade with no explanation at all from SKY. For this reason I feel I need to give SKY 3 stars.

I was due to have sky installed and paid the £49 installation fee, offer which was available at the time. When the installation team arrived I was told that they could not install it on the grounds of health and safety. A sky representative rang to say that due to the circumstances I would receive a refund for the £49 I had paid, here comes the problem no one could find the money I had paid they said it wasn't in their system so I couldn't have my refund. I have sent copies of my bank statement together with a copy of all the e-mails thanking me for my payment but they can still not trace my money. It has now been 4 week and I am no closer to getting a refund even though I sent all the information, after yet another telephone I have been told that although I have given them the proof they required and they know that I have paid the £49 until they can trace it I will not be getting the refund.

I moved to sky broadband in February this year as part of a drive to save money. Never again, I shall change back to BT at the first available opportunity. I am currently writing to sky's head office and faxing them daily because I'm fed up with the call centre wait times. Rest of service is good, TV is great and the cheap phone service works well, but do skip the broadband for god's sake.

Broadband failed last Thursday, ADSL Modem router had failed, told they will send a new router which will take 3 to 5 working days to arrive, a week later and nothing arrived, called sky again only to be told that the router had never been ordered, even though it had been recorded on my account. They tried to talk me through recovering my router, which didn't work as the router was broken, they then said they will order another router. Phoned today (a day later) to check that the router had been ordered, but it had not. I will now have to phone again to make sure the router has been ordered tomorrow. I have a spare modem router, but I cant use it as Sky will not give you the configuration settings so I am stuck with waiting for a new router, if it ever arrives. Very frustrating.

Best thing to resolve your complaints with Sky is to subscribe to Virgin. Sky HD is a complete rip off, hasn't worked since installed and the education of the service teams is rubbish.

Why is Sky still trading?
After 3 months of trying to get someone, anyone at Sky to help with my installation problems, I have given up any hope of getting a response. Countless e-mails remain unanswered. Hours waiting on the phone for someone to speak to, listening to that Music. When you do finally get to speak to someone (twice in three months), they can not help and fail to phone you back when promised. Even getting through to someone at the head office is a strain, today i spent over 30 minuets on my mobile waiting for someone in the complaints department to pick up the phone. The cost of telephoning an 0800 number on your mobile is frightening.
How can a company who offers such poor service remain in business? What do you have to do to get someone to deal with the problem?
I have now cancelled my direct debt, in the hope that this might prompt Sky into action, but no, all that happened is they suspended the only one of the three services they had managed to connect, still no contact, still no resolution. I am left with a Sky HD box that is no use to me, cost £49.00, three months old, no much use. Is there anyone out there that has any advice of who I can go to get this problem resolved?

TV is fine but the internet is terrible. It rarely works, only one out of four laptops in my flat picks up the signal and the call centre can't help because its based in Delhi and they don't speak English.
Please people save yourself many exspensive and infuriating hours on the phone to India ...Quite simply the worst product I've bought from any company EVER...One star is FAR to good for it

Ok, I've been with sky on their FREE base package for nearly two years now. I use the internet everyday for shopping, facebook ect. I spend hours on there and I've never had any problems with my connection or anything. It's been a smooth run all the way. I'd say for me it's been a top service and I'm very happy. I hope I haven't jinxed myself now lol.

When I moved to sky I used the free broadband service, absolutely terrible! Connection speed was v.poor and sometimes it took me 3 hours to connect, and sometimes I could not get on at all.Switched from IE to Firefox and connection seems better, but to try and speak to,and UNDERSTAND,their advisors is impossible, and costly.Would really not reccommend Sky bb.

Well SKY broadband is better than Tiscali- at least I always connect....but the speed...it is like dial up....and do not even try download a video clip.

Don't go with sky broadband. Sky tv is good but the broadband is terrible! The connection is on and off and the free router is rubbish. That wouldn't be a problem if u could use an independent router, but they wont let you! The main thing that has pissed me off is the terrible call centre you have to converse with when something goes wrong. They just keep you on the line to make money off the premium rate. SAD. Sky used to be good.

Got the 16mb package. Although in reality it's 2mb. Tested on various things. How they get away with blatant lies I don't know. Would go back to ntl/vigin but their tv's bad.

Sky is awful, I've been with them three months and I've raised 20 complaints about abuse and misuse of my time, money and data. Sky sales will say anything to get you to sign up, half of it's rubbish, and its 'frequent', but unlawful, practice for a sales person to set you up with two accounts (I presume they get commission based on the number of accts set up) which means you get charged for 2 accounts and get 2 engineers and when you try and cancel one they get very upset. top and bottom of it is I've been lied to, defrauded, charged through the nose, threatened (both legally and informally) and generally messed about. This is without doubt the worst customer service I have ever experienced. oh and no matter what they say you cant use your own equipment with any of it and they retain total control of everything they give you. Don't go with sky.

Utter rubbish broadband connection, download limits that are unreasonable because if you loose your connection (which happens all to often) you must re-download. Poor customer service an expensive help line with poor English speaking advisors. I will be going back to virgin as soon as I can, terrible terrible Sky broadband.

This has been great since switching from tiscali a few weeks back. 8mb is a good speed for surfing and online gaming. Internet, TV and Phone line is a great bargain for £9.99 a month.

Sky is not very reliable, a bad ISP so I am changing my provider.
| Posted by Elewis on the 19th December 2007 | ![]() |
Oh my God... slow and erratic is the word most suited to this crap service. After moving they left me with no bb for 8 weeks and I couldn't get a new provider till I got them to clear my line. Easer said than done. Cancellation error they said. Over three hours on the phone, being put through to dozens of different people, whom none off them had a clue... The managers (when one was available) were even worse. Avoid at all costs. Yes it is cheaper then the rest, but you do get what you pay for... How can a company that has such a brill TV service, have such a bad broadband service?
| Posted by Gary Stammers on the 31st October 2007 | ![]() |
I've been using Sky for broadband for 3 months. I only chose Sky because it came with my Sky Sports package. I pay about £40 per month for all the sports channels and broadband too.
The broadband service has been fine - it's fast and there have been no problems. However, there is a limit on how much you can download. That's not cool if you download movies or music or generally use the web a lot.
