Their network is dead, the company is not responding to Ofcom or BT Wholesale. Customers like me can get a MAC code from the redirection website or Ofcom will help.

Hi, in the end hit the same brick wall as all of you so just waiting to see what happens seem to have no other choice, annoyed at ofcom as since I spoke to them they seem to have changed what they say about prodigy and everybody seems to be getting told something different.

I am still connecting to Prodigy but since about the 2nd March 2009 I am only able to connect at about 80kbs. There is no way to contact them by phone and they don't answer emails. I have requested my MAC code in December, January and February but now there phone lines are disconnected. I contacted Ofcom and they told me that as far as they were concerned Prodigy are still trading. Ofcom have requested my MAC code twice with no success I have no idea how they do this as they have admitted that they can't contact them either. Each time the MAC code request is unsuccessful Ofcom suggest trying again. Ofcom's advice is that they will eventually disconnect me! When I said that that could take months I was told that there was nothing they could do. Everyone I speak to from BT to Ofcom to O2, whom I wish to switch to, say I need to contact Prodigy for the MAC code which is impossible so I really don’t know what to do next.

Scott, see the thread on the thinkbroadband.com forum on this. You are not alone, but you seem to have got further than we have withe problem already.
We didn't know they'd ceased trading, but had guessed they had.

I have today (04/03/2008) tried to contact prodigy and BT no longer connect to their number, I have contacted ofcom and now been told prodigy ceased trading 2 days ago, administrators have not been appointed. I would suggest trying to find another ISP quickly. I have spoken to Orange and because I can not give a MAC code they have taken the problem on for me and I will transfer to them shortly (fingers crossed).

I migrated 4 months ago from Prodigy because their service is terrible! Was very difficult to get MAC off them. Also, they keep taking payments and I can't get a hold of them. I removed my card details, but to no effect. They have taken their phone number off their site which is suspicious... Now I'm contacting my bank to stop POS. I think it's time Prodigy were investigated by the police.

I was with prodigy for about 2 years. Their service was so so but was pretty uncompetitive by the time I decided to move. I think I must of tried to get a MAC out of them for 3 months before giving up and using the cancel account option in the user control panel. I never got through on the phone, e-mail was ignored as was snail mail. They even ignored my e-mail when I realised my account had been hijacked by spammers (no password needed to send mail with them). Now I get 8 meg with a 60GB monthly download limit for £5.00 less per month than what I was paying for a 1mb connection from prodigy. My new ISP is stacks better.

Further information: After I closed my credit card the company still sends automated emails complaining about the problems with getting a payment. I have sent them two very rude replies but got no response at all. I am 100% positive that they do not really have any people but have instead automated the whole invoicing system which simply keeps on involving the victims as long as their credit card is valid.
This is absolutely worth a criminal investigation.

I have exactly the same experiences as Malcom. They respond to nothing and still keep invoicing. I had to ask the credit card company to close my card to end getting invoices. The next thing I will probably do is contact the police. Were there a zero or minus 1 star option I would choose that. I think that the company has zero workers at the moment and the only thing running is the invoicing system.

I have been trying to get Prodigy to send me a migration code for about a year, I am going to have to resort to cancelling my payments in order that they will contact me. They ignore any attempt to contact them and as they are one of the more expensive providers I would like to switch.
I am afraid that they do not seem to have heard of the Ofcom guideline and think that if they just ignore people they can't take their business elsewhere. I for one will be cancelling any payment they try and take from my debit card.

Finished with them in April but they keep taking money from my account. Total waste of time trying to contact them as they ignore emails & refuse to answer phone calls. Have had to resort to contacting CC company to stop them taking my money.

I have been with Prodigy Networks for a couple of years and their broadband service is technically good. However the company is almost impossible to contact for support of any sort except by phone and then you have to phone repeatedly as it is nearly always engaged or just rings. I have found that they ignore all emails and their fax never seems to be working. It is a pity that they don't see the need for communication with their customers. I have just asked for a MAC number to change suppliers but this is already overdue by two days beyond the Ofcom guideline of 5 days.

It is likely the ONLY web page you'll be able to access if you've lost service. It contains a link to a form you can use to find your MAC code.
http://193.113.40.240/SPTermination/default.aspx
You can only access this page from your (partially disconnected) Prodigy connection.
Also they have put a 5-day expiry on this MAC number. This page is hosted by BT Wholesale and judging by their wording on that page, they are just as annoyed with Prodigy as we all are :D
